As summer draws to an end, a new cultural season begins. We are back for another year of recommended cultural outings. To stay abreast of what is happening on the arts scene in town and outside of it, we read plenty of scripts, scour festival brochures, and, mostly, we see lots and lots of performances. Every couple of weeks, we will share our favourite ones with you.
As part of a tour to celebrate their 40th anniversary, Kronos Quartet will perform at the Chan Centre for The Performing Arts at UBC on October 19. Be it the composition of the haunting soundtrack of Requiem for a Dream or its collaboration with throat singer Tanya Tagaq, Kronos Quartet pushes the traditional limits of the string quartet. With originality and virtuosity that will take your breath away, the four musicians take us to spectacular universes where few quartets have ventured before them.
