Théâtre la Seizième is proud to announce it has garnered four nominations for the Jessie Richardson Awards.
The French-language theatre company received the good news tonight, during the nomination ceremony held at Theatresports Improv Centre.
Théâtre la Seizième and artists Rachel Peake, Vincent Forcier and Drew Facey received this prestigious honour for their work on the show Le portrait Gooble. The play, written by Jon Lachlan Steward and translated by Lyne Barnabé, has been nominated in the Outstanding Production, Theatre for Young Audiences category. A product of Théâtre la Seizième author-in-residence program, Le portrait Gooble was presented in over fifty schools in B.C. and Alberta, thereby giving access to over 10,000 students to professional French-language theatre.
Director Rachel Peak is among the nominees in the Outstanding Artistic Creation, Theatre for Young Audiences category. Still in the same category, Vincent Fortier drew the attention of the jury with his high-energy performance of young Denver Gooble – he has been nominated for Outstanding Performance. Finally, Drew Facey, a longtime collaborator with Théâtre la Seizième, garnered a nomination for his set and costume designs in the Outstanding Design category.
Since 2000, Théâtre la Seizième has collected over 40 nominations at the Jessie Richardson Awards, and won 16 of the prestigious awards, given every year to artists, producers and theatre company in the Vancouver area.
