Meet the new faces of Théâtre la Seizième and travel the world with our incredible community of artists in this abundant fall edition.

The actresses Marie-Claire Marcotte (Statu Quo), Emilie Leclerc (L’enfant-Problème, Le Portrait Gooble) and Jessica Heafey, (Traces) were selected to participate in an advanced professional workshop on acting at the Banff Centre.  Organized by the Association des théâtres francophones du Canada, in collaboration with the National Theatre School, this movement workshop will bring together 9 actors and directors from every part of Canada.

From November 12 to the 23, Rearview, the award winning monologue by the playwright and actor Gilles Poulin-Denis, will be presented at the Théâtre Les Tanneurs in Brussels, Belgium. Gilles was the writer in residence at Théâtre la Seizième from 2011 to 2013, and he is also an actor.  You will be able to see him perform onstage this winter, at Studio 16, in the play Des fraises en janvier.

The actress Kayla Deorksen, who you can see this season in Extra-Céleste, will soon be travelling the roads of Ontario with Tagged, a Green Thumb Theatre production.  Written by our writer in residence Dave Deveau, this play for youth audiences exposes the underlying issues and the consequences of cyber bullying.

Mélissa McCowell, a new collaborator with Théâtre la Seizième, is presently working as a stage management apprentice with Ruby Slippers. As part of her training, she will work on two productions: Communion (Pacific Theatre, October 25 to November 9, 2013) and Hotel Bethlehem (Firehall Centre, December 18 to 23, 2013).

Dominic Duchesne (Extra-Céleste) and Siona Gareau Brennan (Statu Quo), two new talents at Théâtre la Seizième, are part of the cast of 4Plays at Studio 58.  This production will present a series of one-act plays written by students at the studio, under the guidance of the successful playwright Aaron Bushkowsky.

The iShow, an audacious new play by Émilie Leclerc, Gilles Poulin-Denis and 13 other Canadian artists, is a finalist for the AQCT’s Critics Award in the “Montreal” category.  The other two plays nominated are Des couteux dans les poules by David Horrower and Cinq visages pour Camille Brunelle by Guillaume Corbeil. The latter is a production by Théâtre Pàp, a company whose production of The Dragonfly of Chicoutimi, will presented by Théâtre la Seizième this winter.
