Craig and Esther’s picks – May 16, 2013

It is important for us to stay on the cutting of edge of what is happening on the arts scene in Vancouver. We read a great deal, we see a lot of productions and now, we want to share our favorites. Every two weeks, we will suggest a cultural outing for you. You liked it? Hated it? Tweet us what you think or leave us a note on our Facebook page.

The Vancouver Children’s Festival offers a golden opportunity this year for a theatre outing in French with the little ones! Created for children 4-8 years, Baobab by Théâtre Motus is a sunny show inspired by African legends and traditions. At the centre of the play is a little boy and a destiny greater than himself. And surrounding him, there are characters in colorful masks, puppets created from percussion instruments, dance, and enchanting rhythms. The play, which invites participation from the children, is a beautiful reminder that no one is too small to make a difference. The performances in French are May 28th and 30th at the Waterfront Theatre.

This was the last pick of the season. Gilles and Esther will be back with new exciting cultural outings in September. Have a nice summer!
