Craig and Esther’s picks – January 24

It is important for us to stay on the cutting of edge of what is happening on the arts scene in Vancouver. We read a great deal, we see a lot of productions and now, we want to share our favorites. Every two weeks, we will suggest a cultural outing for you. You liked it? Hated it? Tweet us what you think or leave us a note on our Facebook page.

We know that you would have preferred to immerse yourself in the savage beauty and poetic prose of Yellow Moon but, since we are sold out, you are looking for something else to do. We suggest Testament by Germany’s She She Pop in Vancouver this weekend as part of the PuSh Festival.

The play examines father-daughter relationships by deconstructing one of Shakespeare’s most troubling works: King Lear.  With no pomp or fluff, the artists of this collective delve into the legacy left to them by their own biological fathers…..as these very men stand and witness live what is said! The result: A theatrical bomb of innovation that can never be confused with the classical theatre of Shakespeare. From the 24th to the 2th of January at the Goldcorp Centre of the Arts at SFU Woodward’s.
