Craig and Esther’s picks – May 2, 2013

It is important for us to stay on the cutting of edge of what is happening on the arts scene in Vancouver. We read a great deal, we see a lot of productions and now, we want to share our favorites. Every two weeks, we will suggest a cultural outing for you. You liked it? Hated it? Tweet us what you think or leave us a note on our Facebook page.

Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg’s new dance theatre piece Highgate (presented this week only at The Cultch) promises to provide audience members with the same edge, passion and unique point of view as her previous works (bAnger in which she delves into the world of heavy metal and Goggles with its crime obsessed kid). Directed by Théâtre la Seizième’s longtime colleague Anita Rochon, Highgate brings Cheyenne Friedenberg’s unique (and often twisted) take on Victorian funerary culture. Sure to be highly original and wildly imaginative.
