Théâtre la Seizième warmly congratulates its outgoing president, Danielle Arcard, who was awarded the Prix Napoléon Gareau on Saturday. Given out by the Fédération des francophones de la Colombie-britannique (the Federation of British-Columbia Francophones), the prize celebrates Danielle’s commitment to the Francophone community, and especially for her work with Théâtre la Seizième. She served as the President of the organization from 1998 to 2013, and continues to sit on its Board of Directors.
During Danielle’s tenure as President, la Seizième saw its influence grow in the community, and the company solidified its place as a pillar of professional theatre in British-Columbia and in Western Canada. For more than 15 years, she has guided and managed the team of eight board members, forging a clear path with her inspired vision, while at the same time lending her support to the administrative team. Danielle has always represented the organization with excellence and closely followed the challenges that Francophone cultural organizations must face.
Théâtre la Seizième’s current President, Véronique St-Antoine, wanted to emphasize her exceptional contributions over the years. “Danielle is an inspiration to all of us! She has been a model of community engagement for many years, during which she made it her first priority to passionately tackle the challenges faced by Francophones in a minority environment, in the artistic and cultural communities, as well as in education. Through her devotion, her humanity, her passion for the French language and her professionalism, she has contributed to the flowering of the Francophone community. This award is deeply deserved and we are privileged to continue to have her as a member of the Board of Directors.”
