Théâtre la Seizième unveils the productions that make up its 2011-2012 season. Sensitive, funny and insightful, these five plays take a frank look at subjects profoundly connected to current affairs. The stories that you will see are full of intelligence, humour and compassion, and they will invite you to examine more closely pertinent subjects from our daily lives.
On the mainstage, the French company will host two productions from Montreal. Performed by exceptional casts and written by authors at the top of their craft, these pieces have been critically acclaimed and have won many prizes. Théâtre la Seizième will also present a work developed within its dramatic development program. Entirely created by local artists, this production will premiere at Studio 16.
Again this season, la Seizième will offer to its young audiences in-school drama workshops as well as two shows on tour all around the province. A true Canadian success story, the production for teenagers addresses the pivotal moment when, upon leaving school, young adults must make crucial choices about their future. As for the children’s play, it’s a colourful local creation which colourfully examines the respect of personal differences and self-actualisation.
